NHS workers on strike

NHS strikes

NHS workers across the country are striking this morning as the government have refused their request for a 1% pay increase.

The government’s unwillingness is tantamount to a pay cut in real terms for thousands of nurses, midwives and ambulance staff.

York TUC fully supports the strike and wishes to send a message of solidarity to all those who have taken the difficult decision to stand up.

If you pass a picket this morning please give your support to the professionals who care for us when we are sick, or when we are bringing our children in to the world. If we do not fight for this NHS we will be forever known as the generation who sold our children’s healthcare off!
