With workers increasingly feeling the pressure to commit to longer hours with little or no pay rises it’s important to remember the advances in workers rights which were so hard fought for throughout the 20th century. Tomorrow (Wednesday 24th September) is Go Home On Time Day, a day where workers are encouraged to make a point, together, and not partake in unpaid overtime. York TUC has supported this campaign in the past because we feel that unpaid overtime is the silent contributor to the erosion of family budgets. Cuts to welfare, pay, free healthcare and the rising cost of living are already more than enough to contend with.

Tickets are now available to come and see Banner Theatre’s “In A Right State!” production, being hosted by York TUC at Scarcroft Primary School. Click here for ticket info.
Speakers at the event include Neil Foster (Policy & Campaigns Officer, TUC Yorkshire & Humber) and Leigh Wilks (President, York TUC). They will be present to talk about the upcoming campaign in the city and the national “Britain Needs A Payrise” demonstration in London. Banner Theatre will be performing “In A Right State!” a mix of theatre and music aimed at highlighting the anti-austerity message and demonstrating that the savage cuts the country continues to face are not working!
Please come along and encourage your friends and family to attend. If you are a member of a union branch please ask your branch if they will consider paying for your ticket!
