Sarah Woolley elected General Secretary of BFAWU

BFAWU general-secretary elect Sarah Woolley

On behalf of all of us at York & District TUC, I would like to offer our sincere congratulations to Sarah Woolley on her election to the position of General Secretary of the Bakers, Food & Allied Workers’ Union (BFAWU). Sarah, who – despite not living in York, has been a tireless campaigner and an attendee of our delegate meetings in the past, has been one of the movement’s most effective organisers, leading fantastic campaigns on behalf of fast food workers and others at the lower end of the pay scale. Already one of the fastest-growing trade unions in terms of membership – the BFAWU already packs an industrial punch well in excess of its size, and we are sure Sarah will take the union in a fresh and exciting direction, representing her members with the honesty, integrity and professionalism for which she is already well known. Well done Sarah!
